Louise Radloff seeks re-election as a Democrat
Radloff Announces Intent to Seek Reelection as Democrat
Louise Radloff today announced her intention to seek reelection to the Gwinnett County School Board in 2012. The long-time school board member will switch her party affiliation from the Republican Party and seek reelection as a Democratic candidate in her redrawn District 5.
Gwinnett Democratic Party Chairman Steve Deak stated:
“We are delighted to have Ms. Radloff switch to the Democratic Party. She has served this county’s public school system for almost four decades and has worked tirelessly on behalf of the children of Gwinnett County.”
Steve Reilly, the 7th Congressional District chairman of the Democratic Party said that
“Louise Radloff has been the finest public servant Gwinnett County has seen over the past forty years. Ms. Radloff has been instrumental in building and maintaining our great public school system. Her devotion to public education makes her a natural fit as a Democrat.”
First elected to the Gwinnett Board of Education in 1972, Ms. Radloff has served as school board chairwoman eight times. She has been active in countless other community organizations including the Gwinnett Rockdale Newton (GRN) Community Service Board, Georgia Commission on Mental Health, the Gwinnett United Way, Gwinnett County Board of Health, and the Salvation Army, among many. Ms Radloff runs the Saturday Gateway program to assist and tutor academically challenged kids. Recently, Radloff was one of five women nationwide honored in Washington, D.C. as a 2012 National Mother of Achievement for American Mothers for achievements as a mother and woman.
Regarding her reelection announcement as a Democrat, Ms. Radloff stated:
“I remain driven to help maintain the superior public school system we have in Gwinnett County. Education is the key to our future. The Democratic Party is and has been focused on supporting public education, which makes me comfortable running as a Democrat.”
