The Gwinnett Democrats proudly participated in Atlanta’s 46th Gay Pride Parade October 15 with a float emblazoned with “Growing Gwinnett Blue with Pride.” Georgia Representative Dewey McClain of Gwinnett’s house district 100 led approximately forty enthusiastic marchers flanking the float including several candidates for Congress and local office. Gwinnett, the only county political party participating in the two-mile long parade along Peachtree and 10th streets, was warmly and cheerfully greeted by Pride Celebrants.
Mitch Lavender headed GCDP’s Pride project and said the star of the day was our mascot, the Diva Dawn-Kee aka Cheryl Williams in her donkey costume.
